Organize Books and Magazines in the Bathroom

Summary: Experts say that a bathroom is one of the top 10 places to think, so why not organize yours to help induce better thinking habits? Here is how you can do just that.

The bathroom is probably the single most perfect place in the home to get some of that oh so precious quiet time we all seem to need and want. No one ever seems to really want to interrupt someone who is in the bathroom, usually since it is too embarrassing. Now take that fact, and add it with this one. On average, a person is going to spend at least one hour a day in the bathroom. While it may not be, and usually is not, all at one time, this is still quite a bit of time to sit around and do nothing. Perhaps it is for these two reasons that most people have something along the lines of a bathroom library.

This library is usually made up of books, or magazines that seem to have gravitated into the bathroom. Usually this happens by people taking something to read in with them to read, and leaving it behind, or through someone who purposely (though not often) having a small collection of reading material located in the room on a semi-permanent basis. There is only one problem with this tendency, and that problem is that such a collection can quickly lead to a cluttered, disorganized chaotic look that is not attractive in the least.

Luckily, there is a way that you can maintain a charming little library of bathroom reading material, without having to experience the pain and embarrassment of a messy bathroom. Through the use of some imagination and creativity and your messy, disorganized bathroom will soon be the envy of all who see it.

  • Books. The problem with books is that they can take up a large amount of room unless they are properly stored. The best, and easiest, way to store books is through the use of bookshelves. Now, we are talking about a bathroom here, and not an actual library or den. So, in this case, you are not going to have the room for a full size bookshelf. What you should consider using is some of the smaller styles of bookshelves, or even a simple homemade style that can fit between the toilet and the sink. You may also want to look into whether you could fit a shelf or even several shelves above your toilet. These shelves, while storing your books, can also be used in other bathroom organization endeavors.
  • Magazines. While easier to fit into a bathroom, large numbers of magazines can give an even more cluttered look to the often cramped environment of a bathroom. If you happen to find yourself faced with this situation, then all you need to do is simply employ the use of a basket. There are several types of baskets that you can purchase commercially that have been specifically designed for the use of magazines and newspapers, but you can use any type of basket that is going to fit neatly into your bathroom. When choosing your basket, make sure that you also keep in mind the decor style of your bathroom as well. It would not do to use something that doesn't go along with the rest of your room, now does it?
