Ways to Better Organize Your Jewelry

Summary: Jewelry can quickly become a tangled and chaotic mess. Here are four ways to help you better organize your jewelry.

Whether half of our world's population wants to admit it or not, everyone has a need or organizing their jewelry. Whether the jewelry is watches, tie tacks, necklaces or rings, the result of not having some method of organization can be a huge mess. By taking a little time, and using a little effort your jewelry can be organized properly, and therefore kept in good condition. Here are four ways that you can accomplish that goal, and make it a reality for the future.

  • Collect. Begin by gathering together all of your jewelry into one central location. After you have placed all of your items into one central organizing site, you can start to separate into different "piles." Do this by putting your rings with the other rings, necklaces with other necklaces, your watches with watches and so on. If you want, you can separate your jewelry into further sub-categories. Such sub-categories can be "formal" and "informal" groupings.
  • How. How to store your jewelry is probably one of the more important parts of organizing any collection of jewelry. There are as many different ways to store jewelry as there are types of fashion accessories. For rings and bracelets you should probably use a shallow box or drawer that has been overlaid with a nonslip substance, such as velveteen cloth. This is going to prevent slipping and sliding of the rings, which could lead to damage or ruining rings that you would rather have kept safe. Necklaces should be hung on a small hanger or hook. Earrings and tie tacks should be stored on a piece of cardboard. This prevents those items from being misplaced.
  • Where. The question of where to store your baubles is an important one as well. The use of safes, jewelry boxes or rather some type of James Bond gimmick doesn't matter. Since all equally good at storing and protection, what you are looking for is a place that you are going to be able to have easy access, while being able to protect them from being lost.
  • Implement. As with an organizational strategy, it is going to do no good to start it unless you are fully prepared to use it. Keep using this system as you gather and collect new pieces and you are going to be able to keep your precious jewelry, baubles and accessories from getting lost, misplaced or ruined.
