Keeping Your Kitchen Gadgets Organized
In larger cities, first apartments or starter homes space is typically at a premium. You always seem to want and need more of it, but can never seem able to make more. That is, until now. Here are a few simple ideas and steps that are going to help you get as much storage and living space as possible, no matter how small your home is.
Often, you can build or make your own bookshelves and other storage devices cheaper than purchasing them new. So, try your hand at a couple of these home carpentry ideas, and be ready to be amazed at the simplicity of the project, not to mention the dramatically increased amount of storage space you suddenly have at your disposal. A great project for the beginning carpenter is to make some bookshelves. All you need to do is just get a couple of wooden ladders and some wooden boards. Stand the ladders up, and place the board through the rungs and voila, instant bookshelves. If you want, you can actually spend some more time and effort in painting or staining the boards, but don't worry about it if you are going for either a rustic or industrial look. Another great home carpentry project that maximizes storage space would be to turn an enclosed staircase into a spectacular storage room. If you have read the Harry Potter books, or seen the movies made from them, then you have an idea of what I mean. Instead of using this as a bedroom for a child though, you are going to want to use it for it's intended purpose—storage.
Typically, bathrooms are the smallest rooms in any home, but tend to see some of the heaviest use. This is definitely one area of the house where a liberal and vivid imagination can be a major asset. What you may find of use is how you can have so many items in your bathroom pull double duty of some sort. For instance, try attaching extra hooks to your shower rod so that you it can hold a brush or act as a shower caddy for bath toys. Another example of creating more storage space, while also organizing is how you can mount hooks on a wall, and hang different colored baskets from those hooks. Each basket could be assigned to a different member of the home, and that is where they keep their bath toiletries.
In short, the only limitation that you have to creating more organizational storage space in your home is your imagination. This is an instance where, like so many others in life, the sky is the limit. Stretch your imagination, and see what you can come up with.
